Email to Milan:

Dear Milan Truly delighted to hear from you Milan. I recall my days at Bowen with all of you, very fondly as one of the most wonderful and treasured experiences of my life! I scrutinized your photos with a great deal of interest though I must admit recognition took some effort - it was almost half a century ago man!

I wish you had informed me earlier and I would have dropped everything and made haste for NZ. Alas for a variety of reasons - my contractual obligations where I teach at the college here in Singapore even today at the age of 75! I continue also to work at the Ministry ( served in government 45 yrs now) and it is budget debate month in March and April and I am editing the Ministerial speeches ! But I truly wish I could come. It would be tremendous to connect again with so many dear friends....and hope you will remember me next time round. Also an open invitation to any of you if you are transiting Singapore - just call me at (65) 90885581 anytime and we can meet.

I was widowed some years back and it was not easy raising 2 teenage kids entirely on my own. How I survived is a miracle whilst looking after my aged parent. But the kids are both happily settled and I have a grandson. Fertility rates in Singapore are god awful and Kids are not keen to have children - they are all burnt out and tired ! Singapore is not the kindest city to live in....

I keep going with all the afflictions of age to boot. To ensure my sanity apart from work, I am also an intense Lawn Bowler and have played in competitive Lawn Bowls all over Australia, Hong Kong, India and Thailand. I need to keep myself intellectually and physically occupied and am terrified of Dementia - we have a high rate here in Singapore for some strange reason.

I am on Facebook under the name UNNI MENON (and also LINKEDIN as K U Menon) if anyone wants to link up. My life story is probably all out there.

I did visit NZ in the 80s as I was completing my PhD at Vic but I had no means or references to contact old friends then. So I am truly very happy indeed to hear from you.

Do keep in touch and thank you so much for remembering me in the first place! Have attached some photos below :

Warmest Regards

Krishna
